David" Thanks Terry. The attachment shows the lower left corner of the waste tank. The first slide indicates the current material zones; the second shows the desired breakout of the "Fast-flow paths" material zone (id = 13) into three different zones (ids = 13, 15, 16). The same change would apply to the lower right corner w.r.t. a 2D cut. All dimensions and grid resolution stay the same; this is only a change of zone/material id assignment. As you recall, the dimensions I originally supplied and various grids you generated had units of centimeters. For Amanzi simulations I want to work with length units of meters. So, the "_m" rescaled versions are what are desired at this point. The main grid of interest is the 1/2 tank prism grid (3D, V1.2_m), though a modified center slice hex grid (pseudo 2D, V1.2.1_m) would be helpful for mocking up the half tank problem with a smaller grid prototype. Greg Flach From: Subject: Fw: ASCEM Savannah River Tank II Date: May 13, 2015 at 3:30:17 PM MDT To: "Miller, Terry A" Terry, Regarding "David has some ideas you might want to try until then" ... I was able to speak with him this week during an ASCEM telecon. We determined that I could accomplish the desired changes on a 2D grid using the Regions: Polygon feature, but not for a 3D grid. The Polygon Rotated feature could do the trick, but that is only available for structured AMR grids. So, I could definitely use your help with revising the prism grid (at your convenience). Greg Flach Begin forwarded message: The regions can be decomposed into right circular or hollow cylinders of varying radii, heights and positions. Are cylindrical geometries accommodated in the current UI? I'm not keeping up with current capabilities. Looking at Amanzi input spec 1.2.2, a "Region: Rotated Polygon" shape would do the trick, but is only available for the structured grids. I would be working with an unstructured prism grid. Greg Flach From: Subject: ASCEM Savannah River Tank II Date: May 5, 2015 at 12:40:37 PM MDT To: "Miller, Terry A" Cc: "Freedman, Vicky L" , John David Moulton , Terry, I'm wanting to make a tweak to the tank grid series at https://meshing.lanl.gov/proj/ASCEM_Tank/index.html, to enable a specific radionuclide release scenario desired by the PA contractor at Savannah River. As illustrated in the attachment, I'd like to break up the current "fast-flow paths" grid zone into three separate zones: "FF concrete", "FF annulus" and "FF primary liner". Grid cells would not change, beyond some of them getting a different ID for subsequent material property assignment. The main grid of interest is the 1/2 tank prism grid (3D, V1.2_m). A modified center slice hex grid (pseudo 2D, V1.2.1_m) would be helpful for mocking up the half tank problem with a smaller grid prototype, but is not a necessity. The "meters" versions are desired for Amanzi use. I'm hoping that such a modification would require modest effort on your end at a time convenient to you over say the next month or so. Is that a possibility? Alternatively, is this something I could do on my end using software available from https://meshing.lanl.gov/? I don't have much understanding of the process/logistics used to create the current grids.
